Turk Telekom won't be moving on to the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge and they dealt Belgacom Liege a blow in their bid to advance as well.
After losing their first four games in Group D, Turk Telekom stunned Liege 83-79 in Belgium on Tuesday.
The result has left Barak Netanya, Norrköping Dolphins and Liege with 3-2 records going into the last week of Regular Season games.
Liege will be at home to Norrköping Dolphins, a team they beat by two on November 30 but a side that looked very good on Tuesday in beating Netanya.
Slovenia international Sani Becirovic had 24 points, two assists and six rebounds for the visitors from Turkey.
Turk Telekom also got a big effort from Gregory Stiemsma, who finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The momentum swung the way of the Turkish team late in the third quarter.
Having trailed 46-39, Turk Telekom battled back and went in front when Ceyhun Altay made the first of two free-throws for a 51-50 lead.
When Stiemsma drilled a jumper at the end of the third, Turk Telekom led 59-52.
Stiemsma again came up big late in the fourth.
Having trailed by nine, Liege clawed their way back to 76-73 on a three-ball by Xavier Collette.
Stiemsma went to the other end and scored to put his team back in control.
Türk Telekom Center Gregory Stiemsma:
"It's a good victory for us. We know that you have always to work harder and better to win in EuroChallenge."
Belgacom Liege Head Coach Dario Gjergia:
"Turk Telekom played well. We took advantage in the first 20 minutes. Then we collapsed. By committing so many mistakes it's not possible to get a win. Now, we have to win against Norrköping."
Belgacom Liege guard Xavier Collette:
"I'm disappointed and frustrated. We still have 2 games to play in 2010. We need to be focused and to win those games. First win Saturday in our domestic league to take the 6th spot and second win Tuesday to be qualified for last 16."
Turk Telekom Head Coach TİMUÇİN MERİÇ:
"Even if we finished our participation in EuroChallenge, we played a solid third quarter to help us to get a first win in this tournament. We showed that we had enough talented players to win away against a dominant team."
