Brose Baskets Bamberg lost 67-65 at KK Buducnost on Wednesday night but still clinched a one-point aggregate victory in their Eurocup Qualifying Round tie. The German outfit, which scraped a 64-61 triumph in the first leg last week, did just enough in Podgorica to make it into the Eurocup regular season. With his team trailing in the second leg 67-64 and just 14 seconds from the end, Bamberg's Eric Taylor drew a foul and went to the free-throw line. He made the first attempt to put Bamberg in front by one point on aggregate but missed the second and Buducnost grabbed the rebound. Needing a two-point basket to go in front, Buducnost instead got an attempt from three-point range from Goran Jeretin with eight seconds left but he missed. Bamberg rebounded and held on for the victory. The German outfit had threatened to blow the game wide open when reeling off 12 straight points for a 27-12 lead early in the second quarter. Buducnost replied, however, with a 16-0 run that was capped by five straight points from Nemanja Gordic. Jeretin had eight points in that spurt for the Montenegrin team. The game remained close the rest of the way. For Bamberg, Predrag Suput had 15 points and Brian Roberts 13. Young Germany international Tibor Pleiß also contributed eight points and four rebounds. Buducnost, who got 19 points and six rebounds from Gordic, will play in the EuroChallenge. |
