GAME REPORT

Classy Krasnye Krylia Comeback!

Krasnye Krylia came from behind to force overtime and then beat BG Gottingen 82-74 in the EuroChallenge Last 16 on Tuesday.

Beaten in their opener last week by EiffelTowers Den Bosch, Samara trailed 64-59 with just 25 seconds to play following two free-throws by Göttingen's Chester Frazier.

Two possessions later and Göttingen's John Little lost the ball out of bounds to hand possession back to Krasnye Krylia.

Ernest Bremer took advantage by burying a three-pointer for the home team to cut the deficit to two before Ralph Biggs knotted the game at 64-64 with two free-throws .

Biggs hit back-to-back three-pointers to begin the fourth quarter and Samara led the rest of the way.

Biggs poured in 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and also grabbed nine rebounds.

Bremer also scored 21 points.

The Russian outfit hit 10 of their 25 shots from long range compared to Gottingen's woeful two-of-23 performance.

The Violets, who are now 1-1 in the Last 16, turned the ball over 20 times to just 16 for Samara.

Jason Boone finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for Gottingen, who also got 14 points and nine boards from Dwayne Anderson.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Krasnye Krylia vs. BG Göttingen

Göttingen head coach John Patrick:
"It was a fair game, my congratulations to the Samara coach. Our opponents didn't let us relax and played as a very experienced team. Of course my team fought them back, but now we have to learn how to care about the ball till the very end. Today we lost to the team that was fighting within the whole 45 minutes.

Göttingen center Chris McNaughton:
"I'd like to congratulate the opponents on the great game. We played quite tough and it almost worked, but they won't let us win. Krylia taught us how to fight back, and we'll learn from that."

Samara head coach Mikhail Mikhailov:
"First of all, many thanks to my team for all they've done to win this game. Both teams showed great basketball, but this game in particular was very important for us, we just needed the victory. Now this win against the second team of German Bundesleague will inspire the players and will give them the confidence they need. For sure, there were some mistakes, and as our opponent is a high-level team, they didn't forgive us for that. Still we have a lot of work ahead."

Samara player Ralph Biggs:
"As for the game on the whole, we were on top and then got down and then came back - but it was a real fight till the end. What can I say - it was a good team game, and this team won, and I'm happy!"
