Elan Chalon reeled off 17 straight points in the second quarter as they crushed Dexia Mons-Hainaut 81-62 in their EuroChallenge Group D opener.
Blake Schib scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures. Philippe Braud had 15 and Jerome Tillman and Marcellus Sommerville added 10 apiece for the hosts.
Dexia had kept it close through the first period, but Joffrey Lauvergne's jump-shot early in the second quarter sparked a 17-0 run than ended the game as a contest as they took a 38-20 lead before half-time.
Dexia showed heart to cut the lead to 11 before the break, with Jerel McNeal's three-pointer making it 38-27, but the damage had been done and they would get no closer as the hosts pulled away again in the third quarter.
McNeal finished with 16 points for Dexia, while Ben Ebong had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Craig Callahan had 11 points.
Elan Chalon head coach Gregor BEUGNOT:
The group is set up but still lacks coherence. I hope the team will go to Havre with the same mindset because the French championship is our priority.
Dexia head coach A. SHIVEK:
It is difficult because we must be organized with the arrival of new players, but I am not happy with our defense tonight. We are not regular and we must be more if we want to do well in the Belgian league and EuroChallenge to qualify.
