KK Buducnost got 17 points from Marko Simonovic in a 92-84 victory over MEG Göttingen on Tuesday night in EuroChallenge Group A. The Montenegrin team placed five players in double-figures and held off the Violets, who were looking for their third straight win to open the campaign. Buducnost led 42-37 at half-time after some sharp shooting from behind the arc and eventually opened up a 13-point lead late in the third quarter. Ben Jacobson, who paced the Violets with 16 points, turned the momentum of the game with a three-pointer leading to a 15-0 run and a 60-58 lead for the visiting German team. With 41 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Buducnost responded, however, with a 14-0 run of their own to re-energize the home crowd. Chester Frazier's jumper pulled Göttingen back to within 83-80 with just over a minute to go, but the Montenegrin outfit put the game away by making nine of 10 free throws down the stretch. Overall, Buducnost collected 38 points from the free-throw line, hitting 83% of their attempts. The German side will look to bounce back at home next week as they play Lokomotiv Kuban (0-3), while Buducnost (2-1) will face BCM Gravelines Dunkerque (2-1). |
