GAME REPORT

Gravelines Heat Up In Third Quarter And Derail Lokomotiv

BCM Gravelines Dunkerque went on a decisive third-quarter scoring rampage and beat winless Lokomotiv Kuban in EuroChallenge Group A on Tuesday.

The French outfit bounced back from their 30-point demolition at the hands of MEG Göttingen last week and won 77-66.

Saso Filipovski's Lokomotiv were in a good position to clinch their first European victory after opening up a 41-35 lead just over four minutes into the second half.

That's when Gravelines knocked Lokomotiv off the rails with their 17-4 scoring spurt.

France international Yannick Bokolo sparked the visitors in that run with a lay-up and two free-throws.

Entering the final quarter with a 52-45 advantage, Gravelines' lead twice dipped to four points but Lokomotiv got no closer.

Ben Woodside had 15 points for Gravelines while Bokolo and Robert Lewin poured in 11 each.

Lewin also had a game-high 11 rebounds.

The French outfit shot the ball very well from long range, making 11 of 22 (50%). At the free-throw line, however, they made just four of 11.

Lokomotiv were eight of 29 (27.5%) from three-point range and six of 12 (50%) at the stripe.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Lokomotiv Kuban vs. BCM Gravelines Dunkerque

Saso Filipovski, Lokomotiv-Kuban Coach:

"The French team won deservedly. We had a chance to reverse the course of the game in the third quarter, but we made some stupid mistakes and lost the advantage. Last week we had half the team infected with influenza, but for this game all recovered and we went out with a good spirit to win, but the opponent was stronger than we were."

Monschau Christian, BCM Gravelines Dunkerque Coach:

"Today we played well and scored an important victory. Lokomotiv-Kuban was a strong opponent, the team ranked third in the championship of Russia and its leader is Chapin. But we were stronger than it was in the team game. Now we have a good chance to go further."
