Buducnost Derail Lokomotiv Kuban With Key Run

KK Buducnost beat Lokomotiv Kuban on Tuesday for their first triumph in this season's EuroChallenge.

Thumped last week at BCM Gravelines Dunkerque, the Montenegrin outfit returned home to win 61-49 with Nemanja Gordic scoring 17 points.

The visitors from Russia poured in the game's first six points but did not press home the advantage with Buducnost instead reducing the deficit to 13-12 by the end of the first quarter.

The home side took command with a 14-3 run bridging the second and third quarters.

With the score knotted at 27-27, Cedomir Vitkovac drilled a jump shot to spark the decisive surge.

Aleksandar Capin had 17 points for the visitors, who fell to 0-2.

"After some bad results in the last games we entered this game with some psychical problems. All of us knew that we need this victory against a very strong rival. First for our ambition in this competition and second for our self-confidence. In first half we made a lot of turnovers. It is consequence of the importance of the game. But in second half we were stronger with more wish and we achieved this win.

"I congratulate to my players for a great victory. We played excellent in defense during all 40 minutes. At the beginning we played sloppy due to importance of the game. But I have to be very satisfied with fact that we got only 49 points against the third team from very strong Russian championship. It is a great job. I have to say that I am sorry because in some periods of the game my players didn't make some open shots from perimeter. It could bring us some confidence.
"And also some missed free throws in second half. With those two segments we could achieve even more convincing victory. It doesn't mean that I am not satisfied with this. But it could be with more difference."

"In this game tonight you didn't see our best edition. Almost all last week we were under influenza and we lost our freshness that we had. The home team played very good more aggressive than we did. Furthermore, they played clever and closed some our actions. It was easy for them because we were not physically prepared. And I have to say that they deserve this victory."

They shown their physical consistence during all 40 minutes and that was their advantage in the game with a lot contacts like this one. I also have to underline both defense and small number of points on both sides. My players made 20 turnovers and have only 7 offensive rebounds. If you miss to score more than 50 points it is difficult to expect a victory.
