Battling Buducnost Beat Göttingen As Both Advance

12.01.2010

KK Buducnost defeated BG Göttingen for the second time this season on Tuesday but finished second to the German club in EuroChallenge Group A.

Goran Jeretin had 22 points for Buducnost in the 80-74 triumph which left both sides with 4-2 records.

BCM Gravelines Dunkerque prevailed 77-68 over Lokomotiv Kuban to also finish 4-2, but they finished third due to inferior goal differential and will not play in the Last 16.

Göttingen are playing in Europe for the first time while Buducnost are seasoned campaigners in the continental competitions and their winning tradition would have helped them on Tuesday.

They trailed by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter but held their nerve.

The game was tied at 74-74 with 49 seconds left when Buducnost's Vladimir Dragicevic made two free-throws.

After a missed three-pointer by Göttingen's Ben Jacobson, Dragicevic went to the other end and dunked for a four-point lead with 24 seconds to go.

Jeretin added two free-throws at the end for the six-point triumph.

Michael Meeks scored 16 points in defeat.
