The Artland Dragons used some stifling defence to beat the Antwerp Giants 70-53 and move clear at the top of Group G in the EuroChallenge. Artland outrebounded their opponents 39-29 and held them to a miserable four of 22 (18.1%) from beyond the arc. The killer stretch began in the second quarter and continued in the third as Artland put together a 21-2 run, capped by Ronald Ross' lay-up to make it 50-30 to the hosts. Antwerp's shooting went ice cold during that run and there was simply no way back as they failed to even make routine lay-ups. Ross and Nathan Peavy both had 13 points to lead Artland. Darren Fenn added 11 while Darius Hall had 10 points. Roel Moors scored 14 points for Antwerp while Brandon Gay and Graham Brown also made it into double figures with 10 each. |
