Cajasol Sevilla failed to build on a rare win in the ACB and crashed to a 64-56 home defeat to Proteas EKA AEL on the opening night of EuroChallenge Top 16 play.
LaVell Blanchard was immense for the Cypriot club, scoring 11 points and pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds in the Group K triumph.
Cajasol, who won for only the third time in Spain's top flight at the weekend in a home success against Granada, started slow and trailed 15-7 at the end of the first quarter but hit back to knot the contest at 24-24 by half-time.
With the game level at 41-41 at the end of the third quarter, Proteas outscored them 23-15 the rest of the way.
Juan Jose Triguero had 13 points and nine rebounds for Cajasol.
Pedro Martínez, Cajasol Head Coach:
"We have played a bad game and when you play bad you have more possibilities to lose. We played with doubts and low confidence. We have played without concentration and we didn't play in the system."
Dragas Raca, Proteas Head Coach:
"It will be a very difficult game for us. I'm proud of my team because we have played very good defense. This win is very important for us because It will give us more confidence for the future. This is the first win to this stage and I think it will give us an advantage in the next games. I think Cajasol has good players, like Mnilisaljevic, and I´m sure they will play better basketball in the future."
