Galatasaray Café Crown forced overtime with a pair of late free throws and then pummeled KK Zagreb 88-72 in the EuroChallenge Group F opener for both sides on Wednesday.

In a game that was tight from start to finish, at least to the end of regulation, Cüneyt Erden made two free throws with seven seconds remaining to tie the game at 68-68.

Krunslav Simon had a chance to win for Zagreb before the final buzzer but was off target from three-point range and the game and the additional five minutes were put on the clock.

Turkish outfit Galatasaray then stormed to victory in the extra period.

Former Serbia captain Milan Gurovic drilled a three-pointer just five seconds into overtime for the home side.

After Hüseyin Besok followed with two free throws, Gurovic struck again from long range for a 76-68 lead.

Zagreb never recovered and ended up scoring just four points in the extra stanza.

Dejan Milojevic led Galatasaray with 25 points and Gurovic finished with 21, while Zagreb got 18 from Simon.
