Kullamae Fires Tartu To Triumph

Gert Kullamae made eight three-pointers in leading Tartu Rock to a convincing 77-57 victory over CSK-VVS Samara to improve to 2-0 record in EuroCup Group A.

Kullamae top-scored with 24 points with Brian Cusworth adding a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds and four blocked shots, and George Tsintsadze scoring 10 for the Estonian club.

Despite 17 points from Alex Scales and 13 from Andrey Trushkin, Russian outfit Samara dropped to a 1-1 record in the pool.

Marek Doronin and Cusworth started on fire for Tartu, combining for 13 points in building a 15-3 lead early on.
 
Trushkin scored two baskets as Samara got the margin down to nine points but Cusworth's dunk made it 25-13 after the first quarter.

Two Kullamae three-balls helped push the gap to 33-15 and Yavin Green did all he could to keep the Russians in the game with the Israeli international's three-point play trimming the margin to 35-25, although Tartu led 42-32 at the break.

Tsintsadze and Kullamae both nailed long balls in a 12-0 surge to start the second half as Tartu opened a 22-point lead at 54-32.
 
Scales then knocked down back-to-back three-balls to cut it back to 16 points, but Vallo Allingu's lay-up gave the Estonians a 64-43 lead after three periods.
 
Kullamae continued his hot shooting in the fourth with two triples as Tartu built a 74-47 lead with five minutes left.
 
Ullar Kerde then called off his troops and Samara out-scored Tartu 10-3 to make the final score a bit more respectable.
