Curtis Millage's jump shot with just one second remaining lifted ASK Riga to a 70-68 triumph at Maroussi on Tuesday to keep the Latvian side firmly in the hunt for a place in the EuroCup quarter-finals.

Millage, a point guard who finished with a game-high 18 points, struck after Markos Kolokas' two free throws had tied the contest with 12 seconds on the clock.

The result means Riga have improved to a record of three victories and two defeats in Round II Group G - the same as Dynamo Moscow Region who are in second place because of a superior points differential in the two meetings between the clubs.

ASK had a promising start and scored the game's first seven points but they were unable to press home that advantage and Maroussi battled back before eventually taking a 38-31 lead to the half-time break.

Riga came out in the third quarter with Arnis Vecvagars burying a three-pointer when play resumed and immediately closed the gap.

The game remained close the rest of the way.

The visitors did grab the upper hand late and moved into a 68-62 lead with 2:08 left when Millage sank a pair of free throws.

The Riga point guard then went to the other end and blocked a shot by guard Alexandros Kyritsis of Maroussi.

Kolokas got the offensive rebound, however, and Kyritsis scored with a lay-up at the 1:33 mark for a 68-64 advantage.

Millage was off target with a shot from the arc, but Vecvagars took the rebound to keep the ball in the hands of Riga.

Kyritsis the stole the ball from Vecvagars and Donya Abrams made two free throws to trim the deficit to two.

Vecvagars was picked clean again, this time by Kolokas who was then fouled by Sanders Valters, and he tied the game.

That set the stage for Millage to clinch victory with his dramatic jumper.

Maroussi lost despite out-rebounding their visitors 42-30.

ASK Riga must win at home against Azovmash in their last game, and hope Maroussi do them a favour by winning at home over Dynamo.
