Lemesos Win To Set Record Straight
// 20 February 2007

DTL EKA AEL Lemesos completed a total turnaround in EuroCup form with a 94-85 win over BC Siauliai.

Last year the Cyprus side lost all six games in the Round II group stage, but this season they had already qualified for the quarter-finals before this victory, which earned them a 5-1 record in Group I.

Milutin Aleksic led all scorers with 25 points and seven rebounds, and helped them come from behind after trailing 25-19 at the end of the first
period.

Michal Hlebowicki's two jump shots, a lay-up and a free throw inside five minutes had opened up a 15-10 lead for Lemesos, but a 15-4 haul in the final three-and-a-half minutes reversed the positions, Aurimas Kieza with five of those.

The Cypriots had a much better second period, outscoring their opponents 24-16 and edging into the lead thanks to a jump shot from Aleksic on the buzzer to make the half-time score 43-41.

The game then began to swing back in Siauliai's favour as four out of six free throws from Arvydas Cepulis - who led his side with 21 - levelled points at 49-49 before seven points in two minutes for Aleksic took Lemesos back in front and the sides traded points to make it 62-61 going into the final period.

The hosts really came into it in the closing stages though, Aleksic shooting nine of their 26 points in the last seven minutes while the Lithuanians made only 17.
