CEZ Nymburk fell just short of qualifying from Group F of the EuroCup, despite topping Vojvodina Srbijagas 70-68 on Tuesday.
Radoslav Rancik scored a game high 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Czechs won a close encounter at the Sportovni Centrum Nymburk.
With three minutes remaining in the first period, Nymburk opened up a 10 point lead to end the quarter 24-14 in what proved a decisive factor in setting up the victory.
The remaining quarters saw the Serbs get on top, winning two and drawing one, but in the end it was the home team who ended the competition on a high largely thanks to their first quarter effort.
Slovakian Rancic was also helped by Ladislav Sokolovsky, who helped himself to 13 points with five rebounds, while Uros Duvnjak (19 points, four rebounds) and Marko Scekic (14 points, five rebounds) were the top scores for Velimir Gasic's team, who ended the competition with a 1-5 record.
The victory by Muli Katzurin's men was not enough though and they finish third in the group with nine points and a 3-3 record, joint with ASK Riga, who advance to the next phase.
