Panamanian sensation Jaime Lloreda put forth another dominating performance as unbeaten Lokomotiv Rostov beat BC Barons Riga 76-68 in Group G to continue their imperious march into Round II.
Lloreda scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the winners.
The defeat is Barons' fourth in the tournament and it means they will not advance to the next stage.
Barons were on the verge of being knocked out early when Lokomotiv reeled off nine straight points to close out the first half for a 43-34 advantage.
Latvian great Ainars Bagatskis, the Barons' player-coach, buried a three-pointer at the start of the third period to spark a 7-0 run as the visitors closed to 45-43.
But it was only a matter of time before the hosts surged ahead again and Lloreda was the man who did most of the damage.
The former Louisiana State University power forward scored nine consecutive points for a 60-47 advantage and this time, Barons did not mount a fightback.
Due in largely to Lloreda, Lokomotiv held a 40-26 advantage on the boards for the games.
They were also 19 of 24 from the free throw line, whiles Barons made less trips and finished seven of 10 at the charity stripe. |
