Lokomotiv Derail Barons

BC Barons suffered a heart breaking defeat to Lokomotiv Rostov in their first EuroCup game at home on Tuesday night.

Barons slipped to 87-86 loss against Rostov for the Latvians' second defeat in Group G.

Barons were granted a late entry into the European competition following Pinar Karsiyaka's surprise withdrawal due to financial problems.

Coached by Latvian great, Ainars Bagatskis, Barons were no match for BC Kyiv in their opening game but it was different story against their Russian opponents this week.

The hosts trailed 63-57 at the end of the third quarter but despite their fight back in the fourth, they just came up short.

Zydrunas Urbonas top scored for Barons with 20 points and Jose Jaime Lloreda Ferron poured in a match winning 29 points for the victors.

Rostov now top Group G with a 2-0 record following victory over German side Bonn in their opening contest.
