GAME REPORT

Azovmash Beat Ploiesti

BC Azovmash clinched their place in Round II of the EuroCup with a 77-69 Group A victory over a brave CSU Asesoft Ploiesti who saw their faint hopes of progressing to the next phase extinguished.

Fresh off their victory over BC Kyiv in Ukraine's Superleague, Azovmash stormed out to a 21-14 first-quarter advantage and stretched that to a 47-28 lead at half-time.

Asesoft, the defending Romanian league champions who also won the FIBA Europe Cup last season, outscored their visitors 22-9 in the third quarter to draw closer, with a Sasa Ocokoljic three-pointer pulling them to within 56-50.

After Arnas Kazlauskas and Ivan Krasic exchanged three-pointers, to start the fourth quarter, Serhiy Lishchuk buried made three successive baskets to give the Ukraine team a 65-53 advantage and coach Mladen Jojic's Romanian team was unable to recover.

Kazlauskas had 15 points to lead Azovmash while Ocokoljic finished with a game-high 21 points.
