GAME REPORT

Anwil 83 vs. BC Khimki 86

Anwil Wloclawek's play-off aspirations suffered a cruel blow against Group C leaders BC Khimki. Anwil put on a brave performance against the Russian side, but ultimately fell short in overtime.

Despite their differing fortunes in this season's FIBA Europe League and a 4-point victory in their first encounter, Anwil were far from easy fodder for Khimki's international stars.

Khimki's Alexander Petrenko
Gintaras Kadziulis scored eleven opening quarter points for Anwil, including the final seven of the quarter and the home side took a 20:19 lead into the break.

The game remained close until the fourth period when Khimki's Americas connection of Ruben Wolkowisky (Argentina) and Oscar Torres (Venezuela) stepped up, combining for the opeing six points of the quarter and giving the visitors a 3-point lead.

Khimki kept their noses in front and with 1:18 to go in regulation, led 64-68. Latvian forward Gatis Jahovics replied with a lay-up for Anwil and after a timeout, Kadziulis slipped inside the Khimki defense for a bucket which tied the game at 68-68.

In overtime it was the Khimki pairing of Melvin Booker and Igor Zamansky who shined. Booker opened the extra period with a three-pointer, after which two consecutive Zamansky jump shots gave Khimki a 5-point lead, 70-75.

The duo combined for a total of 14 points in overtime, including 9/10 free throws, which sealed FIBA Europe League win number 8 for Khimki.

Booker finished with 26 points for Khimki. Zamansky added 15 and Wolkowisky grabbed 17 rebounds to go along with his 15 points.
