Russia: St Petersburg Saluted Back Home

The impact of Dynamo St Petersburg on the FIBA Europe League has been lauded by the Russian city's governor, Valentina Matvienko.

Dynamo, a team that was only formed last summer, went unbeaten in the competition, ultimately prevailing in the Final Four in Istanbul over Russian rivals BC Khimki and Ukrainian giants BC Kyiv.

Dynamo St Petersburg took a while to find their rhythm against BC Kyiv in Thursday's FIBA Europe League championship game but once they did, there was no stopping them.

David Blatt's team beat Kyiv 85-74 to capture the title in Istanbul.

Dynamo 92 vs. BC Khimki 81

Dynamo St Petersburg trailed BC Khimki until late in the third quarter but finally took control to win 92-81 and reach the championship game of the FIBA Europe League.

Playing in Istanbul and looking to remain unbeaten, Dynamo encountered stiff opposition in an all-Russian affair but got their noses in front with just 10 minutes left and pulled away.
