By beating Polonia Warbud 98-70, Hapoel Tel Aviv made a giant step towards the next round of this year’s FIBA Europe League. Having won 6 of 9, the Israelis now can plan for upcoming games. Hapoel is now ranked second, their Polish opponents having dropped to fourth seed.

It was an avoidable loss for the guests who had a poor offensive game and way too many turnovers, which in the end killed any hopes of a win.

The game began with a 10-2 run by Hapoel, with excellent inside play from Yaniv Green. After this run, the game became more balanced, but the home team kept the lead all the time. At half time Hapoel was in front by 10 points, the score 45-35.

The third quarter was also pretty close. Nevertheless, Hapoel was able to increase their lead to 13 points. In the last ten minutes the “Reds” from Tel Aviv were unstoppable as every aspect of their play ran like clockwork. The hosts hit almost every shot they took, and were led by Michael Wright on both ends of the floor. The game ended 98-70, a very nice success for Hapoel.
