Game MVP Sergey Chikalkin
They dished out a similar punishment tonight in the FIBA Europe League, this time with a 101:69 victory over Ukrainian side BC Kyiv.

Sergey Chikalkin was voted MVP of the contest after lighting up Kyiv for 25 points on 10/14 shooting. He scored 11 of his 25 in the 4th quarter and also dished 6 assists.

Ural Great came out motivated from the start strong first quarters from Chikalkin and Steven Nadjfeji saw them surge into the lead. Kyiv though stayed in touch thanks to 3 three-pointers from Sergiy Przheorskyy.

Ural Great increased their lead to double digits in the second, scoring 32 points in the quarter alone.

After a close 3rd period, Chikalkin ended any Kyiv hopes for a comeback by scoring 11 points in the 4th.

With the game effectively over, all that remained was for the home fans to chant that they wanted their team to score 100 points. US forward Vincent Jones obliged them and his dunk with 10 seconds on the clock gave Ural Great their final total of 101 points.

Jones finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Steven Goodrich was Kyiv’s top performer with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Ural Great Perm - BC Kyiv

Sergey Chikalkin, Ural Great Perm:

“We knew that Kyiv had a very tough game schedule. Probably this tired them out. As usual we did a good job at home. The support of our fans gave us maximum motivation. Today we fulfilled the task that our coach gave us - to score more than 100 points.”

Sergei Belov, Head Coach of Ural Great Perm:

“I am glad, because my team showed very good skills. But I am most satisfied about the motivation my players exhibited today. That is what I am asking all the time: be concentrated all the time. Does not matter which opponent they have to deal with. Nevertheless, we still made some mistakes, which have to be eliminated in future.”

Vitaly Lebedinzev, Head Coach of BC Kyiv:

“First of all I would like to thank the home club for the warmest welcome our team received in Perm. Today Ural Great demonstrated the highest level of playing disciplined. Unfortunately, so we did not. We made too many mistakes and allowed them to score easy points. I think Ural Great is without a doubt the leader in our group.”

Steven Goodrich, BC Kyiv:

“Our team has a whole bunch of new players and it seems that we have to play more games together. We are not ready yet to compete against strong teams and Ural Great is certainly a strong rival. Moreover, the incredible support of their fans gives them even more power.”
