Dexia Mons-Hainaut moved into 3rd position in Group B of the FIBA Europe League with a comprehensive home victory over BC Khimki, 91:71.
Dexia were forced to play without guard Jean-Marc Jaumin who was unavailable due to injury. It didn't seem to matter in the 1st quarter as they racked up 35 points, mainly thanks to strong outside shooting from Jim Potter and Bryan Christiansen.
The home team strengthened their advantage in the 2nd quarter further and by halftime had a 19-point lead, 55:36.
The Russian side chose the 3rd quarter to stage a comeback attempt and it came from outside as Vassili Karassev's 3-point shooting propelled Khimki back into contention.
Khimki had cut the lead to 10 points at 72:62 to give them hope, but it was Wouter De Wilde who would extinguish that hope. He hit 2 threes to give Dexia the breathing space they needed and to go on and secure the win.
Potter top scored for Dexia with 21 points on 4/5 3-point shooting. Meindert Verstraete was named MVP for his 11-point, 6-assist performance.
