Scavolini Pesaro were pushed hard by visiting Elan Chalon but managed to grind out an 88-83 win to maintain their unbeaten home record and remain at the summit of Group K. | | Eric Williams torched Chalon with 22 points and 11 boards to help his team maintain their unbeaten record |
Their third straight victory in the last sixteen was made possible mainly by a magnificent 20 points and 11 rebounds by Eric Williams. Chalon surprised their hosts by edging the first period 21-19 despite having been 13-5 behind after just three minutes of the game. Scavolini then produced a stronger performance during the second period despite having initially trailed by as many as six points at 31-25. However a stunning 13-0 run got them back on track and into a 45-41 lead by the midway point of the game. Four minutes into the third quarter and Chalon showed they weren't going away as a score by Taj Gray handed them the lead again at 53-52. Just when it looked like Scavolini would head into the last quarter in front, a Joffrey Lauvergne three-pointer tied the scores at 62-62. The scores remained tied until six minutes from the buzzer when the Italian club edged ahead and they managed to stay there despite a late flurry from the visitors. Elan Chalon had five players all reach double-figures including Jerome Tillman with 16 but nobody could produce the kind of MVP performance of Williams to really make the difference. |
