Göttingen Turn On The Style Against Krasnye Krylia

02 March 2010

BG Göttingen really turned on the style in their showdown against Krasnye Krylia as they completed a second half rout of the Russian club for a convincing 89-68 victory.

Still a one-shot game at the half at 42-39, Göttingen exploded after the interval to cement their place at the summit of Group I as their rivals imploded in spectacular and rather worrying fashion.

Taylor Rochestie was the star as he recorded 22 points in as many minutes, with an excellent contribution that included a quartet of three-pointers and a flawless five of five inside.

Göttingen always held the upper hand and the most likely to win the game having eased away from a tight opening at 18-16 by scoring the last 7 points of the opening period.

They then took their lead out to double-digits at 36-26 but to their credit, the visiting team rallied and closed to within three as the teams headed for the locker rooms.

By the time both sets of players returned, it looked very quickly as if only one set were still ready to play and so it proved as Krasnye Krylia crumbled under the relentless home offence.

Ben Jacobson, Jason Boone and John Little also reached double figures for Gottingen while Marcu Douthit was the pick for the losing side with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
