|Israel finished the First Round of U18 European Championship Divsion B on top of Group C|
Israel have finished top of Group C at the U18 European Championship Men Division B in Strumica, F.Y.R. of Macedonia on Monday, defeating Romania 75-48 in their final First Round game.
In truth, Romania never looked like stopping the unbeaten run after Idan Zalmanson's first quarter hook shot sparked a 12-0 run to take Israel to 21-10.
Vlad Cobzaru contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds for Romania while Joaquin Szuchman top-scored for Israel with 14.
Switzerland survived a late Slovak surge to close Group C with a 58-57 win and avoid dropping into the bottom rung of classification games.
The Slovak Republic outscored the Swiss 15-9 in the final period to take a 57-56 lead after Dalibor Hlivak split a pair of free throws with seven seconds left.
But Noé Anabir answered with a jump shot to reclaim the lead Switzerland held for much of the game and when Marek Mäsiar missed for the Slovaks at the buzzer, Switzerland's place in the competition for ninth place was sealed.
The Slovaks slipped into the 17th to 22nd place play-off despite Boris Belavy's game-high 13 points as three players tallied 10 points for Switzerland.
Romania will compete for ninth position after finishing fourth in Group C, avoiding the bottom two due to their head-to-head advantage over Slovak Republic.
Sweden sealed the other quarter-final spot from Group C following a wire-to-wire 100-46 victory over Scotland, who finished winless and bottom.
Sweden smashed the Scots in the post, out-rebounding them 52-20 and out-scoring them 68-20 in the paint, as five Swedes reached double figures, Martin Joensson leading with 19 while Nicholas Sim scored 15 for Scotland.
