Having missed out on last summer's qualifiers, Mekel will look to return to the kind of form which saw him play the third most minutes for Israel at EuroBasket 2009. Mekel is a very good shooter and passer with a great feel for the game and a high basketball IQ. He's a die-hard winner who's never afraid to take the key shots on any stage, and in most cases he'll also make it. He shocked Wichita State when he quit the states after two years, and has since bounced between Gilboa/Galil Elyon and Maccabi Tel Aviv. His first full season back in Israel saw him pick up a Player of the Month award, and after a solid club campaign he looks ready for his second EuroBasket Final Round.
