Raventos died instantantly when his motorbike slammed into a highway roadside barrier.

The 17-year old played with DKV Joventut’s youth team.

A minute moment of silence took place prior to the bronze medal game between Spain and Turkey.

“This game is for my friend,” said Spain’s Marc Rubio.

“It is a tragic loss not only for basketball but for all of Guillem’s friends and family,” said FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin.

“On behalf of FIBA Europe, I would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the family of Guillem Raventos, the Spanish Basketball Federation and DKV Joventut.”
