Croatia sharpshooter Marko Tomas has not recovered in time from an injury to his left leg and will not play at the EuroBasket. National team coach Jasmin Repesa has announced his 12-strong squad and Tomas, one of the country's main offensive weapons, is not included. Nikola Vujcic of Olympiacos will play at a major tournament for Croatia for the first time since EuroBasket 2005 when the national team suffered a heart-breaking overtime defeat to Spain in the Quarter-Finals. Another center, Mario Kasun, is back in the squad after missing last year's Olympics. Mario Stojic played at EuroBasket 2007 in Spain and is also back in the group. Croatia are among the favorites to reach the podium at the EuroBasket in Poland. They will compete in Group A with Greece, F.Y.R. of Macedonia and Israel. Croatia squad: Roko Ukic, Zoran Planinic, Nikola Vujcic, Marko Popovic, Davor Kus, Marin Rozic, Mario Stojic, Marko Banic, Kresimir Loncar, Mario Kasun, Nikola Prkacin and Sandro Nicevic. |
