Spain superstar Pau Gasol is hopeful his finger injury will recover in time for him to be a part of his country's EuroBasket squad.

The Spanish are preparing for the EuroBasket, which tips off on September 7 in Poland.

Gasol required surgery after injuring his finger in training on August 10.

"Everything is going well," said Gasol, whose finger was on Monday examined by the doctor who performed the operation.

"The finger is looking good and everything is going great.          

"I hope that  I can play the EuroBasket."

Spain will be in Warsaw competing in Group C against Serbia, Slovenia and Great Britain.
