Russia Overpower Ukraine
Aleksandr Gudumak collected 21 points and 10 rebounds as Russia bounced back from a disappointing opening loss to beat Ukraine 75-54 in Group D of the U18 European Championship Men.
Gleb Goldyrev scored 15 points and Pavel Khrebtov added 12 points for Russia, who lost 89-48 to Italy in their Group D opener.
Ukraine dropped to 0-2 despite Danylo Zuikov scored 11 points and Volodymyr Gerun hitting for 10 points.
Russia used a 9-2 run in the first quarter to build their first cushion and led 20-10 after one period. The Russians remained in control and pushed the margin to 39-23 after the first half.
A 13-3 surge early in the second half gave Russia a 57-33 lead. And the gap was still 63-45 after three quarters.
Ukraine never got close the rest of the way and the advantage grew to 26 points.
