Lithuania made sure that all the tournament’s unbeaten records remained intact with a good comeback win against Russia 79-65.
In a real team effort five players scored in double figures, Zygimantas Janavicius led the way with 16 points while Vaidas Cepukaitis took 14 points and 13 rebounds.
But the Lithuanians left it late to start the defence of their good run in the tournament as the Russians came storming out of the blocks to lead 10-1 with 5:50 left to play in the first.
After a bright start, however, the Russians just seemed to stop playing and end the quarter 17-12 down as Lithuania came back with an amazing run.
What followed was an up and down game, as both sides enjoyed periods of dominance, the Lithuanians peaking midway through the third quarter with a run which extended their lead to 14 points before the Russians came back again with Semen Shashkov performing admirably for the losing side with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
The win means that Lithuania join Serbia as the two teams with perfect records in Group F.
They face hosts Spain tomorrow in a game of immense importance to both teams for passage to the semis.
