Estonia held the tournament’s leading scorer to three points and had five players tally double digits to defeat England 95-65 in the UMCOR U18 European Championship Men Division B semi-finals.
With the victory, Estonia earns a spot in Division A next year and will take on Romania tomorrow for the gold medal.
Estonia did their homework on Dan Clark, who entered play as the competition’s top scorer and rebounder.
The 208-cm forward was held to three points, six rebounds and took only four shots. Estonia also forced 22 English turnovers.
Estonia took a 47-33 lead into halftime and England was still within striking distance trailing by 15 to start the fourth quarter.
But the Estonians went on a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter to open up a 24 point lead with 5:30 remaining in the contest, leaving little doubt of the game’s outcome.
England lost their nerve during the final Estonian spurt as Devan Bailey was called for a personal foul and then picked up a technical foul resulting in four free-throws from Ivar Tulit.
Five players tallied double-digit scoring for Estonia, led by Tulit’s 25. As a team, they made 8-of-19 three-pointers.
Tulit also had a team-best six rebounds and three steals.
