Italy Survive French Scare

Italy earned their second win of the Quarter-Final Round at the Under-18 European Championship with an 83-81 victory against France.

The Italians held a substantial lead going into the final quarter and although France gave them a scare, they just managed to stay in front to virtually guarantee their place in the semi-finals following an 82-70 defeat of Latvia on Tuesday.

France, Turkey Win U18 Games Again

France romped to their second straight triumph at the U18 European Champsionship in Belgrade with a 79-57 win over Germany on Saturday.

Richard Billant's team, 71-66 victors over Lithuania on Friday, will look to finish as Group A winners on Sunday when they take on Russia.

France and Italy both triumphed in very close games on the opening afternoon of the FIBA U18 European Championship in Belgrade.

The French prevailed over Lithuania 71-66, while the Italians edged Bulgaria 60-56.

France: Billant Optimistic Despite Loss Of Vaty

France coach Richard Billant remains confident his players can challenge the top teams at the U18 European Championship for Men despite the loss of centre Ludovic Vaty to injury.

The French travel to Serbia & Montenegro on July 9 for the event and take on Lithuania, Germany and Russia in the first phase.
