Khimik opened their two-game EuroCup Challenge semi-final in impressive fashion by soundly defeating Lappeenranta 88-61 last night in Yuzhny, Ukraine, while Ural Great also posted a double-digit victory in the other semi-finals match-up with an 81-71 win over Olympia in Larissa, Greece.
Khimik jumped out to 24-12 first quarter lead and would never look back in route to their decisive victory.
Five players scored in double figures for Khimik, led by Dubravko Zemljic’s 17 points.
Jussi Terho Kumpulainen tallied a team-high 16 for Lappeenranta in a losing effort.
In Ural Great’s win, Jurica Golemac led the victors with a season-high 21 points.
Ural Great outscored Olympia 23-12 in the second quarter to take control of the game.
Lappeenranta will host Khimik in the second game on Wednesday, 1 March in Finland, while Ural Great and Olympia resume their semi-final match-up on Thursday, 2 March in Perm, Russia.
