From the beginning tonight it seemed that MBC ODESSA was on track for victory. The biggest contrast from the last game were the "big" players. Banev scored not only the first 4 points, but also took most of the rebounds. In defence Zubrytskyy made a couple of very important steals while on the perimeter Tkach and Annyenkov were hot for 3-points shooting.
However, five minutes after the start Banev and Annyenkov already had 2 personal fouls each. The guests had very bad luck with their free throws, though as Nikolaychuk and Zyskunov couldn't convert 4 free shots, one after another. The result after 10 minutes was 21:14.
At the start of the second quarter Sumykhimprom failed to score on 4 offences. At the other end their hosts made 3 sharp attacks (Tkach - 3 points, Tymoshenko - 2 points, Drugachonok - 2 points) and the lead extended to 28:14. At the end of the first half the guests were able to cut the difference a little bit, nevertheless the teams went to the break with the score 42:30.
After the half-time both teams couldn t score for a while. The guests, for example, picked up their first points after 3 minutes, while the hosts were attacking only slightly more successfully. The Head Coach of MBC ODESSA, Vadym Pudzyrey, then put Mykhlchenko, Shevchenko and Ushakovinto the game, all of whom usually play rather seldom.
The guests used the moment and cut the score to 6 points (50:44). In the last minute Tsymbal made a 3-point shot and the difference was reduced to 54:51. But Okunskyy succeeded with 3 points in the last offence.
In the final quarter the guests were still hoping to make the most of their hosts' mistakes (Banev and Annyenkov were out with 5 PF). The most active guests - Tsymbal, Nikolaychuk and Kryvych R., kept trying to change the situation, but Tymoshenko was of another opinion, his shots were right on target.
The result - 78:70.
V. Pudzyrey, Head Coach, MBC Odessa:
"We started great, but the huge number of fouls just broke the tempo of the game. The players couldn't adopt to "the way of judgement" until the end of the game. We reorganized while playing. Actually should have won with a bigger difference."
Andriy Drugachonok, MBC Odessa:
"BC Sumykhimprom seemed to look not so bad now. The team is quite strong and we are satisfied with the victory because of our mood."
R. Endruattis, Head Coach Sumykhimprom:
"In the beginning we were very nervous. We never had such a low shooting percentage before and Odessa's players shot much better than us."
Rostyslav Kryvych, Sumykhimprom:
"In the 3rd quarter we managed to cut the difference in the score, but our own mistakes didn't let us to correct the situation."
