First win for Oliveirense
Oliveirense's victory over queluz Sintra PM Wednesday night brought all the teams in the FCM Western Conference's Group A to a common ground as all teams in the Group are now tied with one win and one loss each.
Oliveirense took control of the court, earning their first win, 93-72. Keeping an eye open for weak spots, while maintaining strong defense, made the team an unbreakable brick wall. By the end of the first quarter, Queluz were 13 points behind.
Queluz's efforts to break the brick wall continued in the second quarter, but did little damage. Their efforts were stinted when Charles Mandic received two technical fouls. Meanwhile, Oliveirense's Paulo Santos scored a three-pointer after Chris Porter's turnover. Porter scored 18 points in the first 20 minutes alone.
Oliveirense maintained control throughout the third and fourth quarters, even when Queluz tried to fight back with a full-court defense.
Oliveirense's Porter, Antonio Tavares, Francisco Jordao and Filipe da Silva held the court with double-digit scores each. Joao Santos, Miguel Miranda and LeRoy Watkins of Queluz also scored in the double-digits.
Nuno Marçal didn´t play due to an ankle injury.
