Khimik 92 BC Neptunas 78

Khimik roll up the table in Group C as the Ukranian team wins for the third time in a row. This time they took revenge of their only loss so far against Lithuanian BC Neptunas 92-78.

Leading 4-0 at the very beginning of the game Khimik slowed down drastically and so they fell behind 6-14 after 5 minutes. This advantage seemed to relax Neptunas and they allowed the home team to score 11 in a row and even win the first quarter by a neck.

The Lithuanian team started the second quarter with a full-court press and took the lead 20-26. Then Khimik managed to take control of the game and even build a 8 points lead – but failed to keep it. After 2 threepointers by Neptunas the teams again finished the quarter with the same 1-point difference.

At the beginning of the second half Khimik went ahead and didn’t allow the guests to come close. Both teams were quite effective in steals and especially in rebounds. Khimik had 12, Neptunas 11 during the third quarter.

Soon in the final period the game was decided though. With 7 minutes left Khimik built up a comfortable 21-point lead. All the Lithuanians managed to do was to decrease the gap slightly but they had no chance to come back. Andriy Korochkin scored in the last seconds to mark a 92 -78 win for Khimik.
