Scotland, the Principality of Monaco and Iceland rolled to big wins on the first day of the U16 European Championship Women Division C while hosts Gibraltar had to hold their nerve in a thrilling encounter against Malta.
In the last game on Tuesday at the Tercentenary Sports Hall, Gibraltar saw Malta trim what had been a 13-point deficit to just four with a minute to go but the home side held on for a 62-58 victory.
Courtney Ferrer had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Gibraltar.
Joelle Grech's 16 points topped the scoring for Gibraltar, who also got an inspirational effort from Jamie Prescott (11 points, 14 rebounds).
Katie Fergus finished with 11 points and eight boards for the Scots, who had a 33-17 lead by half-time.
Emma Zeghdar had 19 points and six rebounds for the Principality of Monaco, who also had a firm grip on proceedings by half-time with a 30-16 lead.
Iceland won 66-43 over Cyprus after a 21-point, eight-rebound effort from Sara Hinriksdóttir.
