Cyprus and the Principality of Monaco both advanced to the semi-finals of the U16 European Championship for Women Division C with victories on Thursday.
Cyprus needed overtime to beat Malta but eventually prevailed 51-40 after not allowing a single point in the extra period.
Cyprus were looking good with a 24-17 half-time lead, but Malta dominated the third period to take the lead.
Cyprus wrestled the lead back down the stretch, but Andrea Mifsud tied the game with 14 seconds left on a free throw, only to miss the chance to win it for Malta by missing the second.
Cyprus then made no mistake in the extra period, going on an 11-0 run.
Tijana Rici led the victors with 14 points.
Things were more straightforward for the Principality of Monaco, who led 31-17 at half-time and never looked back.
Marine Caradonna led the way with 16 points while Liza Lanzereini added 14.
Cyprus will now face Scotland in the semi-finals while the Principality of Monaco take on hosts Andorra.
Gibraltar and Malta will contest the game for fifth place.
