With plenty of playmakers to choose from, you might think the talent of Sylvia Dominguez and the fact Coach Hernandez knows her well from his time in Salamanca would work in her favour - only she missed out on appearing at the FIBA World Championship Women in the Czech Republic last summer. Nevertheless, she is a hard-nosed player and capable of leading any team while out on the floor as she showed recently in Ekaterinburg when she helped Halcon Avenida win their first EuroLeague Women title with 16 points in the Final. She has a great basketball IQ and supplements that finesse on the ball by being fiercely competitive, which helps her to get more than a fair share of rebounds. She ruled supreme in her youth days for Spain and could now be ready to really light it up for the senior side having played a role off the bench during EuroBasket Women 2009. Sometimes it's easy to forget she is only 24 and probably still to reach her peak.
