Anastasiya Verameyenka

Career: RUOR-Belarusian Junior NT (Belarus-Div. 1, 2002-05), Nadezhda Orenburg (Russia-Superleague, 2005-09)

It's now been six or seven years since basketball coaches in Belarus started raving about the potential of a teenager from Gomel named Anastasiya Verameyenka. Since then the young center has put together a long list of accomplishments, starring for her team Nadezhda Orenburg in the Russian Superleague and EuroCup Women. The 2008-09 season was the first one for Anastasiya and her club in EuroLeague Women. Nadezhda Orenburg failed to advance past the Qualifying Round, but strong performances by its young star didn't go unnoticed. Verameyenka received an invitation to take part in the EuroLeague Women All-Star Game, and she helped fellow European Stars oust the Rest of the World team 101-78. Verameyenka possesses a skill set which is pretty much unique for a post player. She's an exceptional passer, great rebounder and her shot-blocking ability is second to none. Verameyenka‘s shooting range stretches all the way to the three-point line, and she's never been considered a defensive liability. On top of that, Anastasiya is gradually becoming more and more vocal, showing a growing desire to lead. And to think that at the tender age of 21 she is just scratching the surface of her true potential... Well, then the sky's the limit for her.
