Turkey clinched first place in Group D of the U16 European Championship for Women as a strong fourth quarter burst secured a 66-56 win over Serbia.
Hülya Coklar hit 23 points and 14 rebounds as Erkan Metin's team took forward an unbeaten 3-0 mark into Round 2 which begins on Monday in Cagliari.
And the centre was a key factor as the Turks won the decisive inside battle, shooting 45.6% and out-rebounding the Serbs 46-32.
However it was a brave effort from Serbia who were already condemned to the relegation round but threatened an upset when they led for most of the first half.
At the break, they were 28-23 ahead and although Turkey responded, the two sides were deadlocked at 43-43 at the start of the fourth quarter.
But ultimately, Serbian hopes were ended when they conceded eight consecutive points, giving their opponents an advantage they could not overcome.
Aleksandra Crvendakic had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead Serbia.
