GAME REPORT

Efficient French See Off Serbia

France advanced into the second round of the U16 European Championships for Women with an 83-64 victory over Serbia.

And much of the credit went to 15-year-old forward Mousdandy Djaldi-Tabdi who had 23 points and 14 rebounds to spark what became an efficient performance from Les Jeunes Bleues.

It means the Serbs will drop into the relegation round even if they beat Turkey on Saturday but it could have been so different if they had built on a bright start to the game, holding the French scoreless for the first six minutes as they went 10-0 in front.

The response was swift, six straight points propelling France into the lead for the first time early in the second quarter. Serbia battled again. The French responded to go 39-32 clear at half-time and their momentum continued.

A 9-0 run opened daylight between the two teams and Serbia, led by 19 from Aleksandra Crvendakic, never came closer than 12 in the fourth quarter.

On Saturday the French face the Netherlands.
