Croatia cooled off a bit in the second quarter but Sweden could not take advantage of it. The Swedish had a hard time to create good scoring opportunities themselves. After twenty minutes Croatia were up 39-24.
With this convincing lead on their side, Croatia played with a lot of confidence and worked in sync on the offensive side of the court. After three quarters Ruzica Dzankic was on the brink of collecting yet another double-double. She stayed on the court for the complete first thirty minutes and significantly contributed to her team's 53-38 lead.
She would also play all fourth quarter long where she finally got her double double (18 points, 11 rebounds) and helped Croatia coast to the 68-49 win.
Begic had a game high 20 points. For Sweden Erica Iderstal marked 19 points. While Sweden's starters struggled, the bench players scored 31 of their team's 49 points.
Croatia Head Coach Zeljko Ciglar is happy his team is on a sure path to the Quarter-Final Round. "It was an important win for us," he said.
"Now we surely go to the round of the last eight teams. Tomorrow's game against Russia will still be a good game."
