Hungary See Off Poland

Hungary finished off their Qualfiying Round of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women with a 70-54 victory over Poland, securing clearance for 2006 finalists Czech Republic into the semi-finals.

Krisztina Raksanyi had 16 points to improve Hungary's record to 3-2 in Group E.

Belarus Top Poland

Maryia Filonchyk scored 30 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in leading Belarus to an 80-72 victory over Poland in Group E of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women.

Belarus never trailed but nearly blew a 21-point lead going into the fourth quarter before holding off Poland to move to 1-3 in the group.

Group E: Czech Teamwork Crushes Poland

All 12 players scored and Andrea Sladkova collected a double-double off the bench as the 2006 finalists Czech Republic remained undefeated at the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women with an 83-47 blow-out of Poland.

Underdogs Poland led 9-6 in the early stages, but the Czechs unleashed a 28-8 run spanning the first and second quarters and never looked back in moving to 3-0 in Group E.

Group B: Lithuania Surprise Serbia

Despite knowing they were destined for the Classification Round, Lithuania put on a great fight in beating Serbia 70-67 in over-time in Group B of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women.

Radvile Autukaite scored five of her 15 points in the extra session and Diana Zintikaite hit for 17 total points as Lithuania captured their first victory of the event and handed the Serbs their first loss in Latvia.
