One of the most experienced campaigners in terms of years as a professional, Kristine Karklina is something of a late bloomer when it comes to the National Team. Having missed out on Eurobasket Women 2007 and the Olympics a year later, she finally got some recognition two years ago on home soil when she was handed plenty of minutes. A guard who has quick feet and hands which makes her defensively effective, Karklina has enjoyed domestic success in Latvia and also has experience in EuroCup Women and EuroLeague Women. Having played around 25 minutes per game last summer during the Qualifying Round, the versatility of Karklina is clearly valued by Coach Dikeoulakos and she will once again offer a steady hand in whichever backcourt position the team needs her to fill the most. She is also recognised as being one of the best perimeter defenders on the roster. |
