Career: Olympiakos Piraeus (Greece-ESAKE, 1996-2003), CSKA Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2003-05).
Alexei Savrasenko was also known for many years as Amanatidis, his Greek name as he left Russia at a very young age to join the ranks of Olympiakos Piraeus in a Greek league that was known for bringing young prospects from former Yugoslavia and Soviet Union... In Athens, Savrasenko could be spotted at the far end of the bench sitting next to another Russian giant, Anatoly Zurpenko. After being loaned to Peristeri in 2001, his career took off and this wide bodied center finally showed his great shot blocking and rebounding qualities... Savrasenko appeared at the same time under the Russian national team jersey and quickly established himself as the key man patrolling the middle. He has won two consecutive Superleague titles with CSKA Moscow. |
