Besiktas edged Artland Dragons in a thrilling Game 1 of their EuroChallenge Quarter-Final series in Germany.

Carlos Arroyo scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half on Tuesday night, including a go-ahead free-throw with just three seconds remaining, as Besiktas claimed a 74-73 victory.

Brandon Thomas had pulled Artland level with two free-throws just 22 seconds from the end.

After Besiktas called a timeout, the Turkish club ran the clock down to just a few seconds and Arroyo launched a shot from behind the arc.

He missed, but was fouled by Bryan Bailey on the attempt.

Arroyo made the first free-throw but then missed the next two to leave Artland with a chance to claim victory.

After a timeout, Nathan Peavy, a Puerto Rico international like Arroyo, missed from three-point land as Besiktas claimed a one-point win.

Besiktas, who led by as many as 10 points early in the contest, got 24 points and eight rebounds from Zoran Erceg while Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored 22 and grabbed 10 boards.

Anthony Hilliard and Thomas each scored 13 points while Peavy poured in 12 and Anthony King 11.

King also finished with a game-high 11 rebounds.
