FIBA Europe Board And General Assembly To Meet In Poland

The Board of FIBA Europe will meet on Friday, 11th May in Warsaw, Poland with the selection of a site for EuroBasket Women 2009 at the top of the agenda.

The two countries bidding for the event are the Czech Republic and Latvia. 

The Czech Republic has proposed to organize the event in the cities of Ostrava and Brno, located about 200 km apart in the east of the country.

Latvia’s bid is built around four cities, including the capital of Riga where the final would be played at the Riga Arena. 

Preliminary rounds would be played in Liepaya, Ventpils and Valmiera.

The board will also distinguish Mr. Kajetan Hadzelek, making him an honorary member of FIBA Europe.

FIBA Europe’s General Assembly will then convene starting Saturday, 12th May and finishing up Sunday, 13th May.
